Seeking Silence

It’s been a busy few months.  Not just busy in terms of schedules and things to do but busy inside my head.  This happens from time to time.  Things in my mind race around at great speed.  New ideas.  To do lists.  Big dreams.  Worries.  Small wonders.   All flying around, bumping up against each other and then moving off in different directions.  It’s hard to keep up. At the end of the day I pass out exhausted.  Not from the physical demands of life but from the mental marathon I’ve been running all day.  I’m not always like this.  There … Read more

Clickin Moms Blog Circle – Food

I am participating in a monthly blog circle with some amazing photographer’s that I met on Clickin Moms.  This month we were challenged to photograph food. I would have thought this challenge would have been EASY.  Two loves: food and photography.  Not so much!  Photographing food is an ART.  It really is.  And it’s one I’m not very good at. Eat, eat!  Grieving?  It will seem a little bit … Read more

Just a Little Every Day Magic

Last night we took the boys to dinner and a movie at a local pizzeria. We had a day full of stress and just needed to unwind with our two favorite toddlers. Normally I would grab the nearest kid and rush them into the car.  Keep warm.  Keep dry.  And I started to do just that but as I stepped outside holding Will he started laughing at the snow.  His laugh … Read more

Hidden Blessings

Every three months I stare at that curtain, peeking under the bottom to see if it is two or four feet that approach.  Two feet means an all clear from the tech – another three months of being medically boring.  Four feet means we are not medically boring.  Four feet means the … Read more

Don't Stand in your Sunshine

[mantra-pullquote align=”left|center|right” textalign=”left|center|right” width=”33%”]Most of the shadows of this life are caused by standing in one’s own sunshine. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson[/mantra-pullquote] I heard this quote this morning and it got me thinking.  How many times do I criticize myself for falling short or not doing something just so.  Or being too this or too little that.  How often do I stand in my own sunshine.  Looking through my posts I’m struck by how many times I harp on my short comings and focus on where improvement is needed. In fact, reading through many of the blogs I love, I’ve noticed … Read more
